Identity, since ancient times, has been a search full of intermediate stations, never definitive arrival points. However, it seems that today the possibilities have multiplied for each individual to "be" what they desire and feel deep down, shaping a personal, unique and infinite Ego, not necessarily coinciding with that assigned by "Nature" (read "Culture ”). The appearance of an "open" and welcoming society towards individual expression, which art, literature and cinema often help to spread, risks minimizing the dangers that still lurk during the path of self-determination. Prison or lynching, in many countries around the world, have never been eliminated or limited by the legislative system. The family, the civil community and the world of work can still constitute silent and aggressive enemies, even in the advanced West. There then remains another open game, decisive for the individual: that with the Law, which is not always the same for everyone. Expressing oneself, "coming out", living life according to one's choices can cost dearly, when the Law does not constitute adequate protection. Worse still, when the Law becomes an obstacle or a wall or a ditch. This is why the Fight for Freedom is not over yet. For this reason we must continue to dialogue, ask questions, seek constant comparison with what is happening around us. From Plato to Milk, from Catullus to Pasolini, from Dante to Penna, we will investigate our past together to shed light on our present.
